Frequently Asked Questions:

General Questions

How does the audio tour work? Our tours use your phone’s built-in GPS. As you drive, the app tracks your location and automatically plays stories, history, and directions at exactly the right moment. You don’t need to press "play" or look at your phone—just drive and listen.

Do I need cell service to use the tour? No! This is the best part. Most of our tours (like Cades Cove or the Natchez Trace) have poor cell reception. You simply download the tour to your device while you have Wi-Fi or a good signal, and the app will work entirely offline using GPS.

Technical & Battery

Will the app drain my battery? Because the app uses GPS for several hours, it can consume battery quickly. We highly recommend plugging your phone into a car charger while driving.

What if I miss a stop or turn around? No problem! Specific geographic points trigger the audio. If you stop for a long hike and then return to your car, the app will recognize your location and resume the tour seamlessly.

What if  I need technical assistance? Great news! We provide technical assistance via text or voice at 256-310-2151.

Using the App

Can I play my own music while using the tour? Yes. Most smartphones allow the tour audio to "duck" your music, meaning your music will get quieter when the narrator speaks and return to normal volume when the story is over.

How do I hear the audio through my car speakers? You can connect your phone to your car via Bluetooth, an Auxiliary (AUX) cord, or USB. If your car doesn't have these options, your phone's speaker will also work, though we recommend a Bluetooth connection for the best experience.
